What this part does
The brake caliper houses the brake pads and the hydraulic piston that applies friction to the brake rotor to slow or stop the vehicle. Mounted to the rear suspension knuckle, it converts hydraulic line pressure from the master cylinder into mechanical clamping force. When a caliper fails, it typically seizes due to corrosion or internal seal failure, resulting in uneven pad wear, continuous drag, overheating, or a vehicle that pulls to one side during braking. On this platform, the rear caliper also integrates with the electronic parking brake system to hold the vehicle stationary when parked.

Before you order
- Verify your existing caliper part number. Porsche offers different rear brake options depending on the exact trim and equipment codes (PR codes).
- This assembly features an electronic parking brake (EPB). You will need a diagnostic scan tool to safely retract the electronic parking brake motor before installing new pads or servicing the unit.
- Installation requires bleeding the hydraulic brake system to remove air. Always use the manufacturer-specified brake fluid.
- Inspect and lubricate the slide pins with high-temperature silicone grease prior to mounting to ensure smooth operation and even pad wear.
- It is highly recommended to replace brake pads in axle pairs when installing a replacement caliper.
