What this part does
The roof-mounted antenna module handles incoming and outgoing radio frequencies for the vehicle's navigation, satellite radio, and cellular telematics systems. Positioned on the upper rear roof panel, it routes signals directly to the central infotainment and communication computers via shielded coaxial cables. When this component is damaged or fails, the vehicle typically loses GPS satellite reception, satellite radio audio drops out, or the onboard SOS and emergency calling features display a telematics malfunction warning on the instrument cluster.

Before you order
Verify that your original component matches the exact part number provided. BMW manufactures multiple versions of this module depending on the specific technology and communication packages originally ordered with the vehicle. While the module itself is plug-and-play and does not require software coding, you must use a new adhesive sealing gasket during installation. Reusing the old adhesive or failing to properly seal the base will result in water leaking directly into the headliner and damaging interior electronics.
