What this part does

The air intake hose routes filtered air from the air cleaner assembly directly to the turbocharger inlet. It provides a flexible but entirely sealed pathway to ensure that all air entering the induction system is properly measured by the mass airflow sensor. On the N63 twin-turbo engine, these plastic and rubber ducts are subjected to extreme under-hood temperatures and frequent heat cycling. When the material eventually hardens and splits, the breach allows unmetered air to bypass the sensors, immediately causing lean running conditions, engine misfires, rough idling, and illuminated check engine warnings.

Before you order

Because the N63 engine utilizes a twin-turbo layout, there are two distinct intake hoses (left and right) represented by the two part numbers provided. Verify exactly which side has failed on your vehicle before installation. The plastic mating collars and sensor connections on these hoses become brittle with age; carefully release the retaining clips on your mass airflow sensor during removal to avoid breaking the sensor housing. It is highly recommended to inspect the opposite side hose, as both are exposed to the same ambient engine heat and generally fail within a similar timeframe.
