What this part does
The sun visor is an interior trim component mounted to the vehicle headliner just above the windshield. It swings down and pivots outward to block direct sunlight and glare from the cabin occupants, significantly improving forward and side visibility while driving. Most assemblies feature an integrated vanity mirror, a sliding or flipping mirror cover, and internal wiring for the mirror illumination.
Over time, the internal friction hinge can wear out, causing the visor to sag or drop down over bumps. Failure can also occur in the mirror cover hinges or the internal wiring, which will prevent the vanity light from turning on when the flap is opened.
