What this part does

The wiper linkage is the mechanical assembly that converts the rotational output of the wiper motor into the synchronized, back-and-forth sweeping motion of the windshield wiper arms. It is mounted directly beneath the plastic cowl panel at the base of the windshield, attaching to the vehicle bulkhead. Because of its location, the pivot joints and bushings are exposed to moisture and debris over time. When the linkage begins to fail or seize, the wipers will often move slowly, bind mid-stroke, or stop working completely.
