What this part does
The radiator core support is a primary structural framework located at the very front of the engine bay. It secures the radiator, cooling fans, air conditioning condenser, and hood latch assembly, keeping the cooling system rigidly mounted. It also bridges the front frame rails and inner fenders, maintaining the critical geometry of the front end structure. If this panel is bent or cracked during a front-end collision, it will severely misalign the headlights, hood, and cooling components, often causing fan blades to contact the radiator shroud.

Before installing this replacement part, verify that the front frame rails on your vehicle are completely square and straight; even minor frame sway will prevent the core support mounting holes from aligning properly. BMW E36 6-cylinder and 4-cylinder radiator supports feature distinct mounting points for the radiator and shroud. Because the vehicle it came from was equipped with an M52 6-cylinder engine, this support should only be used on 6-cylinder chassis and will not properly mount a 4-cylinder radiator.
