What this part does

The front left seat belt assembly secures the driver during vehicle operation and is a critical component of the primary restraint system. Mounted inside the lower B-pillar, this complete unit contains the fabric webbing, the mechanical retractor coil, and an integrated explosive pre-tensioner. In the event of a collision, the crash data module sends a signal that fires the pre-tensioner, instantly winding the spool backward to pull the occupant firmly against the seat before they can travel forward. Once a pre-tensioner deploys or if the internal retractor spring loses tension over time, the entire seat belt assembly fails to function properly and requires full replacement.

Modern Porsche restraint systems are highly sensitive; you must disconnect the main vehicle battery for at least 15 minutes before disconnecting or plugging in the new seat belt wiring harness. Failing to do so will trigger a hard SRS airbag warning light on the dashboard that requires diagnostic software to clear. Inspect the lower mounting hardware on the vehicle it came from to ensure you reuse the correct high-tensile steel bolts during installation.
